Summer Peace All Year

The end of the summer is quickly approaching. I am already seeing the stress of the school year appear in people’s eyes and actions. Sometimes I wonder what we are doing to ourselves by living with such a high level of stress during the year and almost shutting down and decompressing in the summer. This morning I woke up thinking, "I wish I could I live all year long in the peace I feel when I am in the mountains with my family during the summer. Wouldn't that be heaven?"

Then I hear a voice in my heart say, "If I was going to choose for you, Leanne, I would choose rest. Rest all year long. Rest in me always. Rest like it is a lazy summer day all year long. Go ahead and work. Be disciplined and diligent but be restful!

Matthew 11:28-30

28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
