Pray for the USA

What things are you asking God for? Jesus says in John 16:24 until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. In Luke 11:9, Jesus says, I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. So, I put it before you again. What are you asking for?

I hear so many reports of discontent, discouragement and anger on the direction this country is going. There is a lot of complaining about the government, health care, social programs and morality. I myself have gotten caught up in the trap of complaint and discouragement. Then I stop and wonder, are we praying as much as we are complaining?

In a child psychology course I took in college years ago, we were taught that a child needed to hear two positive affirming statements for every negative one just to bring them to an emotional balance. In order to have their self-esteem land on the positive side of the spectrum they needed to hear a minimum of three positive statement for every one negative statement.

If the same is true for our spiritual equilibrium and our spiritual freedom, we would need to be praying and confessing victory two times more than we are complaining and three times more if we want to land on the winning side.

As we both know that is not entirely true, because we know that we serve a God who already wins. Right!? But what is true is that we are still human and when we speak defeat, we many times surrender God's victory in our lives because we do not allow God to take control. We are so focused on the problem and not seeing God as the answer. When we stay in continuous prayer, it is not to remind God of what He is supposed to do, it is to remind us of what God has already done.

The USA and the world is in a very turbulent time in history at the moment. The world is crying “Peace, peace,” and there is no peace. People are frightened and they feel as if there is nothing they can do. This is causing great anxiety and depression in millions of people. This crippling fear is hurting relationships, communities and the entire Nation. This fear is overtaking our land. Whether we like it or not, we are at WAR. However, there is a peace that we can find only on the other side of War.

Our war (Christians), however, is not against flesh and blood. It is not against our neighbor, our spouses our bosses, our government or other countries. Our war is against Satan and his demons. Our battle field is on our knees. Our weapon is in the Word of God!

When you hear yourself complaining about a relationship, what does the Word of God say about that relationship? Find out. Then pray, confess and believe. When you are depressed, lonely, fearful or angry, look to see what the Bible says about your anxiety, fear, anger and depression. Pray, confess and then believe. When you start complaining about this country and all that is happening, treat this country like you would a child of God. (For this country was birthed through God’s great hand) and find out what the Bible says about his children, even if they have gone astray. Then, like you would with a child, pray for her three times more than you complain about her. Lift her up, affirm her, stand with her, and we will watch the hand of God take control.

We are God’s Warriors, we have the right and responsibility to throw Satan’s plans back into his face. It is his plan that all should perish, including this Great Nation. But it is God’s plan that none should perish, but that all should see the glory of God. We must get on God’s side, because it is God who wins.

I will make Mondays my “Pray for the Nation” Day. It will be the day that I choose to claim God’s promises and pray for this Great Nation. “If we don’t stand and fight for our freedom, we will have no freedom to fight for.” This was a quote from one of our founding father and signers of the Declaration of Independence. Praise God that we have the ability to fight with God as our general, the Bible as our sword and a legend of Angels surrounding us for protection.

Join with me as we pray for the USA. On Mondays “Pray for the Nation” Day.

Psalms 33:12

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He chose for His inheritance.
