Choosing The "Great"

Continuation of "Beware Of Your Enemies:

The enemy of "great" is good:

I have had many people ask me, “How do you know how to start making great choices over good?” To be honest, that is a very difficult distinction to make. When I asked my family, over the dinner table, “What would be the first step you would take in order to discover the “greatness” that God wanted you to live in, what would you do?”

One person said, “I would write down what I am really passionate about.” Another said, “I would talk to people who are doing what I want to do.” Then my daughter chimed in, “I would read my bible.” I looked at her with a little wrinkle in my forehead.I mentally scoffed at the “spiritually correct” answer.I said, “sweaty, that is a given.” She said, “No, it is not a given.” I see many people searching for the answers to their lives problems, myself included, and yet God’s word is never consulted. It stays on the shelf or in a drawer with all the other unread books.I think if I was really trying to discover God’s greatness for my life, I would start reading my Bible more and praying.”

So…

Step #1 You personally need to know your father. Not what someone else has to say about Him, or what someone else’s interpretation are of Him. You need to discover God for yourself and make a personal connection with Him.Detailed information on this is laid out in my book, . For today, this is what you can do. Go to the Bible and find out what God has to say about you.

For example: Look up “God’s Love”. (I prefer using www.openbible.info for this type of research). Here is what I found.

John 3:16

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Personal connection (speak out loud): I am so grateful God that you loved me so much that you sent your son Jesus to die on my behalf. I believe in your son and I know that I will live eternally with You in heaven. Thank you God.

Romans 8:37-39 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Personal connection (speak out loud): God, you said that , “I am more than a conqueror through Christ who loves me. I know that nothing and no one can separate me from your love which comes to me through Jesus Christ my Lord.”

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope.

James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Personal connection (speak out loud): “Satan, God has a plan for me. A plan to prosper me and not to harm me. I have a future and a hope. I will not submit to your attacks and you have to flee from me in the name of Jesus!”

Romans 5:8 But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.

Personal connection (speak out loud): Dear Father, thank you that you loved me so much, that while I was still screwing up and making mistakes and sinning you sent Jesus Christ to die for me. Because I am learning about how much you love and adore me I will have no fear. Your perfect love casts away all of my fears.

Start every morning with a personal connection with your heavenly father and the knots of your life will be untied and when the knots are loosed you will be able to see a clearer picture of your future.
